Let’s clear the similarity between the two first. Both VDI and DaaS are Cloud Computing Solutions and involve the deployment of Virtual Desktops (VD). The difference lies in the way both solutions are deployed. In a VDI solution, the data center which houses all the VDs is setup and managed at the premises of the company which deploys the solution. Maintaining the data center and other infrastructure are also the responsibility of the deploying entity. A DaaS Solution is outsourced to a Cloud Service Provider (CSP). In DaaS, all the VDs are created over a shared data center of the CSP. Further, all the data and any applications also run from the CSP’s data center. Lastly, the CSP is responsible for all the hardware related to the solution.
