Garret Grajek, dinCloud chief security officer, recently wrote an article for Electronic Health Reporter on implementing procedures to secure healthcare organizations against advanced persistent threats. The article cited the doubling of healthcare attacks in the past few years and why healthcare systems have to take security very seriously. By understanding the workflow of attacks, organizations can begin to prepare and act on them quickly.

Grajek explains, “Healthcare IT systems are a target rich environment for advanced persistent threats attacks. What’s the reward? PHI (Personal Health Information) and PII (Personal Identification Information). PHI/PII for hackers is the gift that keeps on giving! With someone’s identity information, hackers can create multiple accounts – financial and other – for the purposes of fraud.”
